Most everyone agrees that data is quite important, so where it gets stored is also important.  Storage though has been something for the infrastructure experts to worry about, but new architectures are making storage much more interesting for developers at the infrastructure level as well as the application level.  This presentation will discuss how open software-defined technologies like Swift, Ceph, and Gluster have driven new requirements in storage hardware architectures.  Come participate in the session and discuss the optimization opportunities in distributing application and storage services in an open architecture that extends all of the way to CPU and memory resources residing on the storage media itself.
